Our first Scholastic Chess Tournament was a success! Last Saturday, 10 of our students were able to attend our first “official” chess tournament, competing with other schools.
In the Elementary division (1st – 5th grades), we won 6th place our of 14 competing schools!
One of our 6th graders won an 8th place individual award for finishing in the 3 or more points category (she won 3 out of 5 games played)!
And as for the Middle School Division . . . drum roll please! . . .
Our Middle School students walked away with the 1st Place trophy after competing with 11 other schools!
Everyone represented themselves, their parents, the school and the Father well as they competed with class and grace. ALL of these accomplishments are great for a first time competing school. Everyone knew that we were the “ROOKies,” and there was a loud roar for MBCA when we were announced as 1st place Middle School Division!
Congratulations students on a job well done, and thank you to all the teachers and parents who helped make it a possibility!
We will be working on attending our second tournament for the year, so be on the lookout because the Lions are on the prowl! 🐾🐾
